The Family Van organization has just announced that past volunteer, and AAAS alumna, Yasmin Rawlins '15 has been named a Patriots Difference Maker of the Week by the New England Patriots:

"Now a first-year medical student at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Yasmin had worked with us for three years, starting her service in Roxbury by helping clients to manage a variety of diseases, including obesity and diabetes. For her undergraduate senior thesis in African and African American Studies at Harvard College, Yasmin conducted a qualitative study of client experiences with the Family Van. By establishing how our model of care provides an inviting and welcoming place for clients to receive assistance, her research enhanced our advocacy efforts and demonstrated the importance of mobile health clinics nationwide.

As part of its Celebrate Volunteerism initiative, the New England Patriots will honor Yasmin along with 14 other awardees. Her story will appear in Patriots news publications, and she is invited to attend a Patriots game this December. Congratulations, Yasmin, and thank you for all your hard work!"
