Gungé Docteur Seck

Selections from 'Gungé Docteur Seck'

In January 2013, supported by the Kenneth I. Juster Fellowship from Harvard's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Kendra McLaughlin '15 (Visual and Environmental Studies) and Gus Ruchman '15 (African and African American Studies) shot a documentary about and in partnership with Alioune Seck, the head of the public health clinic in Sangalkam, Senegal. On call at all hours of the day, Seck wholeheartedly dedicates himself to medical service and the improvement of health in his community. As a pious Muslim, committed father, and charismatic leader Seck searches for balance among the devotions that guide his life. A rough cut of Gungé Docteur Seck ("Shadowing Doctor Seck," Wolof and French with English subtitles) screened at the Harvard Law Documentary Studio's 3rd Annual Documentary Festival. A final cut remains forthcoming, with early selections available here.
